Stores Built to Sell

A Better Store Is Worth More Than More Traffic

Tastic Marketing builds eCommerce stores for operators who understand that the difference between a good store and an average one is measured in margin, repeat purchase, and the quiet erosion that happens when shoppers do not quite trust what they are looking at. Most of what separates the two is invisible to the customer and obvious to anyone who has spent years inside this work. We bring that perspective to every build, and we apply it to the parts of the store that decide whether the business compounds or plateaus.

Generic Builds, Forgettable Brands

We Build Powerful Brands

The eCommerce stores winning right now are the ones that refused to be built off a template. Generic design, generic copy, generic flows, and generic merchandising all read the same way to a shopper, which is that the brand behind the store is replaceable. We do not build replaceable stores. The work is grounded in your category, your margin structure, your repeat-purchase economics, and the buying psychology of the people you are actually trying to reach. The result is a store that feels considered, performs commercially, and gives the brand somewhere to grow into rather than something to outgrow.

Shopify Builds

Shopify is the right platform for many brands, and getting the most out of it takes more than picking a theme. We build on Shopify with a clear view of where the platform is strong, where its conventions need to be pushed, and where custom work earns its cost in performance, flexibility, and the buying experience the brand actually deserves.

WooCommerce Builds

WooCommerce remains the most flexible platform for brands that need real control over data, customization, and integration with the rest of the business. We build on WooCommerce with the engineering depth to keep it fast, secure, and stable under load, treating it as the serious commerce platform it is rather than a WordPress plugin.

Headless and Custom Architectures

Some stores need more than a templated platform can offer, whether for performance, content control, or integration depth. We design and build headless and custom commerce architectures that pair a modern front end with the back end best suited to the operation, giving the business room to grow without the limits of a packaged stack.

Optimizing AOV and Checkout

Average order value and checkout completion are where the easiest revenue lives. We lift AOV through considered bundle logic, cross-sell placement, and upsell mechanics that respect the shopper, and we tighten checkout with trust signals, friction reduction, and abandonment recovery, so more of the traffic you already have becomes revenue.

How is AI changing the way customers discover and choose eCommerce products?

The most important thing to understand is that AI is not just another channel. It is rewriting how shoppers find products, narrow their options, and decide what to buy. The work happens inside the AI conversation, before the shopper ever reaches your store.

Three numbers make this concrete.

61% of consumers have used generative AI tools like ChatGPT for online shopping. ChatGPT passed 900 million weekly active users in February 2026, more than double a year earlier, and 37% of consumers now begin their searches with an AI tool rather than a traditional search engine. Shopify’s Winter ’26 Agentic Storefronts feature lets merchants syndicate one catalog to ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Microsoft Copilot at the same time, which tells you where the platforms believe this is going.

This is not a future trend. It is the present.

The traffic looks small. The impact does not.

Most operators dismiss AI search because the referral numbers are still small. That dismissal is a mistake. The traffic is small but the quality is extraordinary.

Adobe’s April 2026 quarterly report found AI-referred visitors in March 2026 were 42% more likely to purchase, generated 37% more revenue per visit, and bounced 32% less than visitors from other channels. A year earlier, in March 2025, AI traffic converted 38% worse than other sources. That reversal in twelve months is the signal. Buyer trust in AI recommendations is now strong enough that the people clicking through have already made up their minds.

The conversion data backs it up across multiple independent studies:

  • Visibility Labs analyzed 94 seven and eight-figure eCommerce brands across 12 months of GA4 data and found ChatGPT referral traffic converting 31% higher than non-branded organic search.
  • Semrush’s June 2025 research found AI search traffic converting at 4.4 times the rate of organic for informational and marketing queries.
  • Similarweb’s State of Ecommerce 2025 report found ChatGPT-referred traffic converting at roughly 11.4%, compared to 5.3% from organic search.

The numbers vary. The pattern does not. A visitor arriving from an AI tool is a visitor who has already done their research and chosen you.

Why this is happening

A shopper who used to spend weeks comparing options across multiple sites now does that work in a single thirty-minute conversation with ChatGPT or Perplexity. The AI reads the product specs, summarizes the reviews, weighs the tradeoffs, and recommends a short list. By the time the shopper visits your store, the decision is largely made. Your job is to confirm it, not start it.

Similarweb’s 2026 AI Brand Visibility Report found 35% of consumers now use AI tools at the discovery and initial ideas stage of research, compared to 13.6% using traditional search at the same stage. The top of the funnel is moving into the AI conversation. The bottom of the funnel is what hits your site.

That changes what your store has to do well. The product information has to be accurate, complete, and machine-readable, because the AI cannot recommend what it cannot reliably parse. The brand reputation has to be strong across review sites, editorial mentions, and third-party content, because the AI weighs that context heavily. The site experience has to confirm the buying decision quickly, because the shopper arrives already convinced and a clunky storefront is the easiest way to lose them.

Where most operators are getting this wrong

Three mistakes are common right now.

The first is watching the wrong number. Total organic traffic looks stable, so operators conclude AI is not affecting them. The reality is that the query mix is shifting. Informational and comparison queries are being absorbed by AI. What is left in your organic numbers is increasingly branded and high-intent traffic, which is good news, but the upstream demand creation that fed that branded traffic is moving somewhere you are not measuring. Only 22% of marketers currently track AI visibility, and fewer than 26% plan to develop content specifically for AI citations. The brands that segment AI referral traffic, monitor AI visibility, and adjust accordingly are the ones building real advantage.

The second is treating this as an SEO problem. Getting cited by AI engines is a brand and content problem with an SEO surface. The engines select sources based on topical authority, structured data quality, and reputation signals across the broader web. Stores with thin content, no editorial presence, and no real expertise to point to are not being cited, and they will not be regardless of how much they tinker with title tags.

The third is waiting. AI search traffic grew 527% year-over-year between January 2024 and May 2025, while organic traffic growth remained flat. The brands establishing themselves as cited authorities right now are building a position the late movers will have to spend significantly more to dislodge. Six months from now this advantage gets harder to claim. Twelve months from now it gets expensive.

What to do about it

In practical priority order:

  1. Audit your product data. Every product needs complete, accurate, structured information published in formats the AI engines can read. Inconsistencies between your site, third-party retailers, and review platforms cost you citations.
  2. Segment your analytics. Set up tracking that distinguishes AI referral traffic, branded organic, and non-branded organic. You cannot manage a channel mix you cannot see.
  3. Build genuine topical authority. This means original content, expert-led editorial, and real reasons for AI engines to cite you over a competitor. Generic AI-generated content does the opposite of what you need.
  4. Monitor your AI visibility. Track which queries surface your brand inside ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews. The brands you are losing those citations to are the ones taking your future market share.

The shift is real, the data confirms it, and the window to act is open right now. Six months of work today is worth two years of catch-up later.

Why structured data and product schema have become essential to selling online

For most of the last decade, schema markup was an SEO nice-to-have. A bit of code that helped Google show your prices and star ratings in the search results. In 2026, that has changed completely. Structured data is now the difference between being found by AI shopping engines and being invisible to them.

The shift is happening fast.

SE Ranking found that 65% of pages cited by Google AI Mode and 71% of pages cited by ChatGPT include structured data. Shops with complete Schema.org markup achieve 58.3% more clicks according to Semrush, and a 31.8% higher conversion rate according to Shopify. Schema-compliant pages are cited 3.1 times more frequently in AI Overviews.

The reason is simple. AI systems do not read your product page the way a human does. They parse structured data fields. If your product page has the right markup, the AI can pull your name, price, brand, GTIN, availability, materials, and reviews into its answer with confidence. If your page does not, the AI either skips you or recommends a competitor whose data is cleaner.

Google’s Shopping Graph now contains over 50 billion product listings, and AI Overviews appear on approximately 15% of all search queries, significantly more for eCommerce queries. Already, 24% of shoppers are comfortable with AI agents buying for them, rising to 32% among Gen Z. Those agents do not function without structured product data. Without it, your products do not exist in their comparison workflows.

The work itself is not complicated. JSON-LD markup, complete product attribute fields, GTIN and UPC codes where applicable, and consistent data across your site, feeds, and third-party listings. The discipline is in doing it properly across the entire catalog and keeping it accurate as products change. The brands that treat product data as infrastructure rather than an SEO afterthought are the ones being surfaced. The ones with thin or inconsistent data are being passed over and will not understand why their organic visibility quietly eroded over twelve months.

How AI is reshaping customer service, returns, and the post-purchase experience

The post-purchase experience used to be where eCommerce brands quietly underinvested, because it sat between marketing and operations and rarely had a clear owner. AI has changed the math. Done well, AI in customer service and post-purchase now drives retention, repeat purchase, and lifetime value in ways that show up directly on the P&L. Done badly, it does the opposite at scale.

The opportunity is real. Generative AI in contact centres is projected to cut agent labour costs by $80 billion by 2026, and applying generative AI to customer care can raise productivity by 30 to 45 percent. Research shows AI customer service achieves 80% resolution rates for common questions, freeing human agents for complex, high-value interactions. Brands that embed AI across CRM, OMS, and PIM report response times three times faster and costs trimmed 25 to 30 percent, with an average $3.50 in ROI for every $1 invested.

The bigger story is what AI does for returns and proactive service. Recustomer’s 2025 returns and exchanges report analyzed about 17.8 million orders and 190,000 returns or exchanges, framing the post-purchase experience as a growth driver tied to LTV, with users who experienced returns or exchanges showing more than double the lifetime value when handled well. Machine learning models that tap shipping scans and historical delay patterns to trigger proactive texts or refunds produce 20 to 30 percent efficiency gains and up to 15 percent CSAT lifts.

The risk is just as real. 70% of consumers familiar with generative AI have little to no trust in how companies make AI decisions. 75% of consumers will not buy from companies they do not trust with their data. AI deployed without the right guardrails can damage the relationship faster than it improves it. Chatbots that misroute angry customers, automated refund denials with no escalation path, and impersonal AI replies on legitimate complaints all create brand damage that takes years to repair.

The brands getting this right treat AI as a layer that handles the routine fast and accurately, while routing emotional, complex, or exception-driven cases to humans without friction. They invest in the data infrastructure that lets the AI answer reliably from trusted sources, and they design the escalation paths so customers never feel trapped. The brands getting this wrong are deploying AI to cut costs without protecting the experience, and the long-term damage to retention and lifetime value will outrun the short-term savings.
